Three Salts (Trilavana)
To alleviate vomiting caused by Vata when combined with ghee and Trikatu.
Modern description
Trilavana is a combination of three salts, used to improve digestion, alleviate Vata, and balance electrolytes. It consists of Saindhava Lavana (Rock Salt), Sauvarchala Lavana (Black Salt), and Vida Lavana.
Purpose
To alleviate vomiting caused by Vata when combined with ghee and Trikatu.
Indications
- Indigestion, loss of appetite, abdominal distension, abdominal pain, anorexia, constipation, flatulence, abdominal colic, to stimulate digestive fire.

Preparation steps
- Procure equal parts of Saindhava Lavana (Rock salt), Sauvarchala Lavana (Black salt), and Vida Lavana (Vida salt).
- Clean each salt individually to remove any impurities.
- Pulverize each salt separately into a fine powder using a mortar and pestle or a grinder.
- Weigh equal quantities of each powdered salt.
- Mix all three powdered salts thoroughly in a clean, dry container until a homogenous mixture is achieved.
- Store the mixture in an airtight container away from moisture and direct sunlight.
Safety contraindications
- Contraindicated in individuals with severe gastritis, peptic ulcers and hyperacidity.
