Sitopala is a classical Ayurvedic powder formulation primarily used for respiratory conditions like cough and asthma, and to improve strength and digestion.

Purpose

Component of a formulation in the treatment of Rajayakshma (consumption/tuberculosis).

Indications

• Cough, cold, bronchitis, asthma, tuberculosis, anorexia, general debility, burning sensation in the chest, fever.

Preparation steps

• The primary ingredient, Sita (sugar candy), is powdered.
• Other ingredients like Vamsha Lochana (Bambusa bambos), Pippali (Piper longum), Ela (Elettaria cardamomum), and Tvak (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) are finely powdered separately.
• All the powdered ingredients are then mixed thoroughly in specified proportions.
• The final mixture is stored in an airtight container, protected from moisture and light.

Safety contraindications

• Hyperglycemia, known allergy to any of the ingredients.
