Preparation steps
- Prepare herbal decoction by boiling Kutaj (Holarrhena antidysenterica Wall), Daruharidra (Berberis aristata DC), Pippali (Piper longum Linn), Shunthi (Zingiber officinale Rosc), Katuka (Picrorhiza kurroa Royle ex Benth), Laksha (Laccifer lacca Kerr.) in water.
- Make fresh herbal paste (kalka) from the same herbs.
- Combine ghee, decoction, and paste in a heavy-bottomed vessel.
- Cook on low flame, stirring regularly for 4-8 hours.
- Continue until all water evaporates and specific signs appear.
- Strain through clean muslin cloth while still warm.
- Store in glass or earthen container.
