Pippalyadi Oil (Pipapalayadi Taila)

Modern description

An oil-based formulation prepared with Pippalyadi herbs, used for treating hemorrhoids, improving digestion, and alleviating Vata and Kapha dosha. It may provide relief for discomforts related to lumbar and cervical spondylosis, as well as constipation.

Preparation steps

• Collect the required ingredients: Pippali, Yashtimadhu, Bilva, Shatahva, Madana, Vacha, Kushta, Shunti, Chitraka, Devadaru, Til Taila (Sesamum indicum), and Go dugdha (Cow Milk).
• Prepare a coarse powder of all the solid ingredients separately.
• Mix the powdered ingredients methodically to make a homogeneous mixture.
• Prepare a decoction (Kwatha) by adding one part of the coarse powder to 4 parts of water, and boil until reduced to 1/4th.
• Prepare a paste (Kalka) by mixing the coarse powder with sufficient water.
• Warm the Til Taila (Sesame oil) in a vessel.
• Add the Kalka (paste) to the warm oil and heat for some time.
• Add the Kwatha (decoction) to the oil and Kalka mixture.
• Continue heating on a medium flame until the Samyak Snehapaka Siddhilakshanas of Mridupaka are achieved.
• Filter the oil while hot and preserve in an airtight container.

Safety contraindications

• Avoid in bleeding disorders or during active bleeding from hemorrhoids.
