Preparation steps
- Collect the necessary ingredients as per the classical formulation.
- Prepare a decoction (Kashaya) using specified herbs.
- Make a paste (Kalka) of the required herbs.
- Melt the ghee (Ghrita) in a suitable vessel.
- Add the Kalka (herbal paste) to the melted Ghrita.
- Pour the Kashaya (decoction) into the Ghrita-Kalka mixture.
- Heat the mixture on a mild flame, stirring continuously.
- Continue heating until all the moisture evaporates and the Ghrita is properly infused with the herbal extracts.
- Observe for Sneha Siddhi Lakshanas (signs of proper Ghrita preparation) such as subsidence of froth, formation of Varti from Kalka, absence of crackling sound on exposing the Varti to flame, and the characteristic smell of the Dravyas used.
- Once the Sneha Siddhi Lakshanas are evident, remove the Ghrita from the flame.
- Filter the Ghrita through a clean cloth while it is still mildly hot.
- Store the prepared Panchamuladya Ghrita in a sterilized, lidded glass jar in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
