Adult dose

As required to fill the cap; typically 1-2 liters may be used depending on the size of the cap.

Pediatric dose

Dosage should be reduced based on age and as per physician's guidance.

Preparation steps

• Select appropriate Ayurvedic oil (e.g., sesame, coconut, or medicated oils).
• Warm the oil to a comfortable temperature.
• Seat the patient comfortably and apply the oil to the head, ensuring it is contained within a leather or rubber cap (Murdhabasti cap).
• Maintain the oil level and temperature for the prescribed duration.
• Gently massage the head after removing the oil.
• Allow the patient to rest.

Safety contraindications

• Sinusitis, acute cold, certain head injuries.
