Adult dose
60-120 ml (approximately 2-4 fluid ounces)
Pediatric dose
10-30 ml or as directed by the physician.
Preparation steps
- Gather necessary ingredients: base oil (e.g., sesame oil, Bala Taila, or Dashamooladi Taila), herbs as prescribed in the formulation.
- If using fresh herbs, prepare a decoction (kwatha) by boiling the herbs in water until reduced to a concentrated form.
- If using pre-made herbal extracts or powders, measure the appropriate quantity as per the formulation.
- Warm the base oil gently.
- If using a decoction, mix it with the warm oil. If using herbal extracts or powders, mix them thoroughly into the warm oil to ensure even distribution.
- Check the temperature of the final mixture to ensure it is lukewarm and comfortable for administration.
- Prepare the Basti (enema syringe) for administration.
Safety contraindications
- Acute fever, indigestion, diarrhea, anemia, jaundice, diabetes, piles, cold congestion, anorexia, low digestion, weakness, splenomegaly, abdominal diseases caused by vitiated Kapha, stiffness of thigh, diarrhea, poisoning.
