Preparation steps
- Collect raw drugs according to classical reference.
- Prepare Kalka (paste) of the drugs.
- Heat ghee with the Kalka and milk, stirring continuously.
- Continue heating until herbal ghee is prepared and the moisture is evaporated.
- Stop heating when the paste rolled between fingers forms varti (wick).
- Allow to cool and store in airtight containers.
Safety contraindications
- Avoid in acute active Vata-aggravation with severe indigestion, and in known allergies to nutmeg or specific herbs.
