Modern description

Kshudranjana is a collyrium preparation (Anjana) used in Ayurveda for treating eye disorders, specifically night blindness. The classical method is to use Rasakriya.

Purpose

To treat night blindness by application as a collyrium.

Indications

• Netra Roga (Eye diseases), especially Kaphaja and Vataja eye disorders
• Kandu (Itching) in eyes
• Abhighataja Netra Roga (Trauma to eye)
• Netra Abhishyanda (Conjunctivitis)
• Vrana (Ulcer/Wound)

• Chakshushya (Beneficial for eyes)
• Vranaropana (Wound healing - external application)
• Kapha-Vata Hara

Key ingredients

• Rasanjana
• Saindhava Lavana
• Madhu

Adult dose

A small quantity sufficient for application to the inner surface of the eyelids (as Anjana).

Pediatric dose

Use with caution in children, under supervision.

Preparation steps

• Collect ingredients as per the formulation mentioned in classical texts.
• Prepare Rasakriya as per standard Ayurvedic procedures.
• Ensure proper grinding and mixing of the ingredients to achieve a homogenous mixture.
• Test the prepared Anjana for fineness and consistency.

Safety contraindications

• Acute eye inflammation, known allergy to any ingredient.
