Ksheera Pradhana Basti is a milk-based enema formulation in Ayurveda used to pacify Vata, nourish the body, and improve strength. It is a type of Niruha Basti, combining milk and herbal medicines.

Key ingredients

• Milk - Main ingredient
• Sesame oil - 1/4 of milk quantity
• Rock salt - Small quantity
• Honey - Small quantity
• Dashamoola decoction - 1/4 of milk quantity

Adult dose

400-800 ml, depending on the individual's digestive capacity and condition.

Pediatric dose

Not typically used in children, consult an Ayurvedic practitioner.

Preparation steps

• Mix honey, salt, ghee, and herbal paste in a Kharala and Mardana properly.
• Boil Kwath dravya (Yashtimadhu, Shatavari) with water and reduce to half the quantity.
• Add milk to the Kwath and boil until the quantity is reduced.
• Add the Ksheerapaka to the ground mixture and filter properly with a clean muslin cloth.

Safety contraindications

• Not typically used in children, consult an Ayurvedic practitioner. Contraindicated in conditions with Kapha aggravation or Ama.
