Preparation steps
- Collect all the necessary herbal ingredients.
- Prepare a decoction (kashaya) by boiling the herbs in water and reducing it to the specified quantity.
- Filter the decoction to remove any solid particles.
- Add jaggery or sugar to the filtered decoction.
- Add fermenting agent (Dhataki flower) and spices (e.g., pepper, long pepper, clove, cinnamon).
- Transfer the mixture into a fermentation vessel (e.g., a ghee-smeared jar).
- Seal the vessel and keep it in a warm place (around 35 degC) for fermentation.
- Allow the fermentation process to occur for a specified period (typically 15-30 days).
- After fermentation, filter the Arishta to remove any remaining solid particles.
- Store the Arishta in a clean, airtight container.
Safety contraindications
- Avoid in severe, uncontrolled diabetes. Use cautiously during pregnancy and lactation. Avoid self-medication.
