Adult dose
20-30 ml, once or twice daily.
Pediatric dose
5-10 ml, once or twice daily, or as directed by a physician.
Preparation steps
- Collection of raw materials: Procure authentic raw materials as per the formulation described in classical texts.
- Cleaning and preparation: Clean the herbs and other ingredients to remove any impurities. Prepare Kashaya (decoction) of the herbs mentioned in the formulation.
- Fermentation: In a clean fermentation vessel, combine the kashaya with jaggery or sugar as specified. Add the remaining ingredients (self-generated alcohol).
- Sealing: Seal the vessel tightly and leave it for fermentation in a cool, dark place for the specified period (typically 15-30 days).
- Filtration: After fermentation, filter the liquid through a clean cloth.
- Quality check: Assess the quality of the final product based on organoleptic parameters and, if possible, modern analytical techniques.
- Storage: Store the Asava/Arishta in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry place.
