Adult dose
5-10 grams
Pediatric dose
Dosage for children below 5 years of age - 1 - 2 grams, once or twice a day, along with a teaspoon of honey or warm water / milk. Not recommended for small children
Preparation steps
- Prepare Dashamoola decoction by boiling coarsely powdered ingredients from Bilva to Kantakari with a specified quantity of water and then filtering.
- Heat the decoction with Haritaki until the water reduces to a quarter and the Haritaki becomes soft.
- Separate the boiled Haritakis and make them into a homogenous paste.
- Add jaggery to the Dashamoola decoction and heat until it dissolves, then filter.
- Add the Haritaki paste to this mixture and heat with continuous stirring until it forms a semi-solid consistency.
- Add powders of Trikatu and Yavakshara and mix well.
- After cooling, add fine powders of cardamom, cinnamon, and patra along with honey and mix well.
- Store the homogeneous mixture in tightly closed containers.
Safety contraindications
- Severe peptic ulcers
- Advanced Pitta disorders (like inflammations with heat signs)
- Pregnancy in first trimester unless advised by an expert
- Known hypersensitivity to any Solanaceae family plants (Brihati, Kantakari)
