Preparation steps
- Collection of raw materials: Authenticate and procure all the ingredients.
- Preparation of Kashaya: Prepare a decoction (kashaya) of the prescribed herbs.
- Addition of Guda/Sharkara: Add jaggery or sugar as specified in the formulation.
- Sandhana (Fermentation): Transfer the mixture to a fermentation vessel, usually made of wood or earthenware.
- Addition of Prakshepaka Dravyas: Add the prakshepaka dravyas (the powdered herbs) at the specified time, usually at the end of the fermentation process.
- Sealing and Incubation: Seal the vessel and allow fermentation to occur in a warm place for the specified period (typically 15-30 days).
- Monitoring Fermentation: Monitor the fermentation process by observing the frothing and the change in smell.
- Filtration: After completion of fermentation, filter the Arishta.
- Storage: Store the Arishta in clean, airtight containers in a cool, dry place.
Safety contraindications
