Agnika Ghrita is a ghee preparation used in the treatment of alcohol intoxication and digestive disorders, often administered with other ghee formulations for synergistic effects.

Purpose

Used along with other ghee formulations like Kalyanaka ghee, Mahatiktaka ghee, Shatpala ghee with milk in the management of Madatyaya (alcohol intoxication) etc.

• Indigestion
• Loss of appetite
• Abdominal pain
• Flatulence
• Colic
• Rheumatoid Arthritis (Ama Dosha predominant)
• Madatyaya (alcohol intoxication)
• Conditions where stimulation of digestive fire is required.

• Adhmana (Distension of abdomen)

Karma

• Deepana (appetizer)
• Pachana (digestive)
• Vata-Kapha Hara (reduces Vata and Kapha)
• Shoolahara (pain reliever)
• Agnivardhana (increases digestive fire)

Key ingredients

• Sonth rhizome
• Pippali fruit
• Ajwain fruit
• Hing
• Jeerak in equal proportions.
• Most likely: Chitrak root

Adult dose

1-3 grams

Pediatric dose

2.5-5 ml

Preparation steps

• Collect all the necessary herbal ingredients.
• Clean and dry the herbs thoroughly.
• Pulverize the herbs individually to a fine powder.
• Mix all the powdered herbs in the prescribed ratio.
• Add the herbal mixture to ghee.
• Heat the mixture over a low flame, stirring continuously, until all the water content evaporates and the ghee is infused with the herbal extracts.
• Filter the ghee through a clean cloth.
• Allow the ghee to cool down.
• Store the prepared Agnika Ghrita in a clean, airtight container, away from sunlight and moisture.

Safety contraindications

• Contraindicated in acute fever and bleeding disorders.
