Adult dose
12-24 grams (approximately 1-2 tablespoons).
Pediatric dose
2.5-5g.
Preparation steps
- Take coarse powder of all the ingredients for decoction and transfer into a stainless steel container, then add 8 times of potable water and allow it to soak overnight.
- Prepare a bolus (Pottali) of Haritaki fruit and Yava, then suspend in the liquid along with other decoction ingredients.
- Subject the contents to mild flame and stir continuously until the volume is reduced to 1/4 part.
- Remove the Haritaki bolus and filter the decoction through a clean muslin cloth.
- Add jaggery to the filtered decoction.
- Prepare Haritaki pulp from boiled Haritaki fruit without seed by using a grinder, then fry with Tila taila and Go-ghrita in another stainless steel vessel until the color changes from light brown to dark brown and stirred to sugar syrup consistency.
- Add fried Haritaki pulp in it stirring processed was continued till sugar syrup consistency was 2 thread consistency after completion of this process let it be self-cool then prakeshpa dravyas (Pippali) was added at approx. 60 deg C.
- Lastly, add honey after complete cooling.
