Preparation steps
- Collect all the necessary ingredients as per the formulation.
- Prepare a decoction (Kwatha) of the specified herbs.
- Make a fine paste (Kalka) of the remaining herbs.
- Take purified ghee (Ghrita) in a stainless steel vessel.
- Add the herbal paste (Kalka) and decoction (Kwatha) to the ghee.
- Heat the mixture on a low flame, stirring continuously to prevent sticking.
- Continue heating until all the water content evaporates and the ghee is infused with the herbal extracts.
- Monitor the Paka (cooking stages) carefully: Mridu, Madhyama, Khara, and Dagdha Paka.
- Once the correct Paka stage is achieved (characterized by specific signs like absence of crackling sounds and the Kalka forming a solid mass), turn off the heat.
- Allow the mixture to cool.
- Filter the ghee through a clean muslin cloth to remove any solid particles.
- Store the Agarbha Ghrita in a clean, airtight glass container, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Safety contraindications
- Contraindicated in conditions with excess Kapha, indigestion, or Ama (toxins).
