Purpose
To enhance vision.
Indications
- Timira (early stages of cataract), Kacchu (itching in the eyes), Netra Daha (burning sensation in the eyes), Abhishyanda (conjunctivitis), and other minor eye ailments. It can also be used as a general eye tonic.

A small amount of the paste obtained after rubbing the Varti on a stone slab is applied to the inner eyelids.

Preparation steps
- Obtain the required ingredients: Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Vibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Neelotpala (Nymphaea stellata), Vidanga (Embelia ribes), Samudraphena (cuttlefish bone), Kukkutandatwak bhasma (incinerated egg shell), Kasisa bhasma (calcinated ferrous sulphate), and Loha bhasma (calcined iron).
- Purify the ingredients as per classical Ayurvedic guidelines.
- Make a fine powder of all the ingredients.
- Triturate the powders with goat's milk to make a paste.
- Apply the paste on a copper plate and allow it to dry for seven days.
- Remove the paste from the copper plate and triturate again with goat's milk.
- Roll the paste to make Vartis (collyrium pills/wicks).
- Dry the Vartis under shade and store in sterile bottles.
